04/22: Portfolio Cover

I’ve thought about how a printed and bound portfolio represents a body of work as compared to a blog, and I prefer the open ended and incremental nature of a blog. Both have the somewhat awkward convention of reverse chronology, unable to show progression or evolution of ideas (the problem is especially apparent with the two part blog post, where readers are introduced Quentin Tarantino style in the middle of the story then taken to the beginning). Printed booklets offer a more presentable and polished product, benefiting from a physical presence and tactile interface of bound pages. I finished a new portfolio draft a few weeks back, and am interested in creating a new one to pursue The SOM Prize (a long shot but a useful experience just applying). Today I look back on the previous printed versions of portfolios, specifically their covers. (Shown in reverse chronological order, some covers were designed front and back together, and others treated the two covers as separate.)
